Cloud and the tablets
In the early days of computer technology everyone had a server and workstations. At home people bought different computers with different operating systems. That was fine except it cost quite a bit to keep buying new and more computers.
Today, it is possible to buy a laptop or tablet and use offsite cloud services for home and business applications to operate throughout each day. Examples of this are offsite email, Facebook and Quickbooks online.
For business customers there is a way to store files in the cloud, run Microsoft Office applications in the cloud and collaborate through video conferencing in the cloud.
As computers get smaller and smaller, there will be less need to be tied down to a cubicle and more freedom to work from outside the office. Look for the Cloud transition to continue.
